St John’s officially closed on 1^st March 2008. The church building is in the hands of the Diocese of Manchester. This follows a lengthy process of consultation and investigation by the Church Commissioners.

The team area is now officially divided between St Clement’s and St James’ – the dividing line being the Bury New Road.

All the records of baptisms, confirmations, weddings and burials are now held at Manchester Central Library.
